One Decision. Two Hours. A Skill You Will Have for Life.

Every 40 seconds, someone in the United States has a heart attack. Most of them will happen outside of a hospital—at home, at work, in a grocery store, or on a playground where you are. And here’s what keeps most people awake at night: without immediate CPR, brain damage can begin in just 4-6 minutes.

Imagine this. You’re at your child’s soccer game on a sunny Saturday afternoon. A parent collapses on the sideline. Your instinct kicks in—you want to help—but your mind goes blank. What do I do? Will I make it worse? Shouldn’t I wait for an ambulance? Those precious seconds slip away. Someone nearby knows CPR. They step in. Within minutes, paramedics arrive. That person survives. They go home to their family.

This scenario plays out thousands of times every year. And the difference between a tragedy and a miracle? One decision. Two hours of training. A skill that stays with you for life.

Why CPR Training Matters More Than You Think

You don’t have to be a doctor. You don’t have to work in healthcare. You just have to care enough to be ready. CPR—cardiopulmonary resuscitation—is a straightforward technique that keeps blood flowing to the brain and heart when someone’s heart has stopped beating or they’ve stopped breathing.

The scary truth? Most cardiac emergencies happen in front of family, friends, and coworkers—not medical professionals. The chances that you, specifically you, will be the first person on scene during someone’s medical emergency are higher than you might think. And when that moment arrives, you won’t be thinking about the “what-ifs”—you’ll be thinking about what you know.

CPR training removes the guesswork. It replaces panic with purpose. It transforms you from a bystander into a lifesaver.

What You’ll Learn in Two Hours

The Basic Steps Are Simpler Than You Imagine

CPR has three main components, and they’re not complicated:

  • Call 911: Alert emergency services immediately. This is always your first step.
  • Hand Placement and Chest Compressions: Place the heel of one hand on the center of the chest, place your other hand on top, and push hard and fast. We’re talking 100-120 compressions per minute—think of the beat of the song “Stayin’ Alive.” You’ll literally practice this.
  • Rescue Breaths (if trained): After 30 compressions, give 2 rescue breaths. Tilt the head back, lift the chin, and breathe into the person’s mouth. In our courses, we cover both compression-only CPR and full CPR with rescue breaths.

This is muscle memory training. You’ll practice on a mannequin until it becomes automatic. When an emergency happens, your hands will know what to do.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Here are the misconceptions that hold people back from learning CPR:

  • “I might do it wrong and hurt them.” A person in cardiac arrest is already dying. Chest compressions can’t make that worse. Doing nothing guarantees a bad outcome. You literally cannot hurt someone by trying.
  • “I’ll be too nervous to remember what to do.” That’s exactly why we train. Your brain remembers what your hands have practiced. Muscle memory is powerful.
  • “CPR always brings people back.” It doesn’t always work—but it dramatically increases the chance of survival. Without it, survival is almost impossible.
  • “I don’t need to learn if there’s an AED nearby.” An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a wonderful tool, but CPR is what buys time while waiting for it or for paramedics to arrive.

When to Call 911—Don’t Hesitate

Call 911 immediately if someone:

  • Is unresponsive or unconscious
  • Is not breathing or gasping for air
  • Has chest pain or pressure
  • Has collapsed suddenly
  • Shows signs of stroke (facial drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty)

In our courses, we emphasize: When in doubt, call 911. It’s far better to be cautious. And tell the dispatcher you or someone nearby is CPR-trained—they’ll walk you through the steps if needed.
